I’m flabbergasted! What do you even say after reading this? The security breach is worthy of termination of Waltz. But the part that bothers me even more is the confirmation that Vance, et al, are truly as callous, inept, and unfit for the roles they’re in as we’ve suspected. This was like overhearing two high school students shit talking about some other students.

And just when you picked your jaw up off the floor I imagine it might have been harder to scrape it up a second time when trump stood before reporters claiming he knew nothing about it! Was that a, " I don't know Michael Cohen" declaration or a "Ohh THAT Michael Cohen, ya he's my lawyer but I don't know nothing about what he does!" kind of denial or was it a "Huh? I'm senile and they let me play golf while THEY handle everything...and don't ask me who "they" are because I don't know their names anymore " kind of denial!

My jaw is still on the floor from the explanation the White House put out the other day claiming that trump is so senile that he was referring to the "original" Alien's Insurrection Act when he claimed he didn't sign it!

I would add to Congressman Ryan's comment FUBAR would apply to the entire Trump debacle. Not just this specific incident. From personal experience it's a dangerous toxic mix when incompetence and arrogance is topped off with sophomoric behavior. This is not just a serious breach of national security it 's the overall failure of this administration to exercise caution and concern when delving into matters of international proportion. As Tara Brown has commented this is hardly behavior worthy of those in the top echelon of government and the NSC.

Right? The other word to describe this regime is omnishamble. No matter what angle you look at it from, it’s hideous and disastrous. Sadly, I feel myself becoming conditioned to the poor job our lawmakers are doing, but this is a serious failure on numerous levels. I hope that Mr. Goldberg doesn’t suddenly fall out of a window after courageously publishing his experience.

I hope Goldberg is right and verified that this group chat--and the participants--were genuine.

Of all the people I can think of, Trump and his pals would like nothing more than to prosecute Jeffrey Goldberg for espionage. He has been a pain in Trump's fat ass for a long time.

The REAL question here is not whether this merry band is incompetent or impulsive or not be trusted with grown-up secrets--we take it for granted they're all of these things; the true mystery is, of all the 330 million other Americans why was Jeffrey Goldberg added to this chat?

This worries me.

Goldberg wrote a detailed article about this in the Atlantic. He was far more careful with the info he wound up with than these idiots.

I read that article and saw him interviewed last night on a couple of news/opinion channels. I never heard the hosts or Goldberg ask this question--Why was HE accidentally added to the chat list? There's something off about this.

He has been, still is, one the most well-informed, articulate and relentless of Trump World's critics and He was accidentally put on the list?

Somebody in Trump world--probably a high level assistant to one those fools--decided to include him to expose the incompetence and sheer idiocy of Trump's agency heads...

Yes, perhaps. You can see a couple ways that could play out. One is also an entrapment try.

I suppose we'll see if Trump and gang go after Goldberg with the Justice Dept. If they don't, then it probably wasn't a set-up, just a spectacular fuck-up...

Not just any journalist, but the very experienced editor in chief of the eminent Atlantic. His thought process, cool headedness, netting out if it was real, fake, a ploy or someone working him for info showed he was the most cool headed person in the room as he sat quietly, lips sealed and then, like a stealth fighter pilot, made his way out of the zone back to home base.

Umm, that type of conversation should be happening in a SCIF with NO PHONES. At all. Phones aren't even allowed to be brought into the SCIF in the first place - they literally have to be left in lockers outside. The fact that they did a chat on a public social media app is beyond beyond beyond ...

Here’s what funny now. Every worthy intelligence agency knows Jeffrey Goldberg's number and presumably his Signal ident. They can drop him what appears to be another Signal invite, which he has before opened and published, but which masks a Signal jacking, and thus compromise the identities for every chat participant, setting them up for a malicious invite.
