Betty Osceola has been praying, protesting, and bearing witness week after week because the harm being done has never stopped. The land is still being torn up. The animals are still displaced. Indigenous people are still being blocked from their own territory. And the people being held there are still suffering. This prayer wasn’t polished or scripted. It was spoken out loud, in real time, by someone watching destruction treated as policy and fear passed off as normal.
These are her words….
“And today, I thank you for sending these individuals here to help us lift those voices to get more people to wake up and realize to walk that white path of goodness that you have put before us to walk.
And today, the animals still don’t know what’s going on. They’ve been chased out of their home by individuals that are here where they had a home, a place to rest, a place to raise their children, a place to forge for food, but they’re confused and they’ve been removed and displaced from their home. The same with the animals of the night with all the lighting that is going on. It has confused these animals that are supposed to roam this earth at night in this area.
And they’ve also displaced the people who are around here that access this place like the Miccosukee who use this area to look for medicines, to do things in times when a loved one has passed, to hunt for food out here. They’ve kept us from going in this area. And this fear that they have created in this world that we’re seeing today and this intimidation that they have put out for the people — is it good, Creator?
And I ask today as we pray and make our prayers known to you and trying to help you that you help us put those prayers into the wind, into the clouds, into the rain to spread far and wide so that we can help you bring people back to that white road that we’re supposed to travel.
And Creator, I ask for these individuals who have traveled a long distance to come here today that when they travel home that you guide them home in a safe manner so they get home without any harm. and creator we continue to come out here for 21 weeks now, and I’m sure people making this journey have some discomfort coming here but it’s not compared to the discomfort that is being experienced by the individuals that are being kept here and I’m sure these individuals are in great despair with great illness going on in their soul and their well-being.
Creator, I ask as we pray that you help ease their discomforts. Help reassure them in their hearts to not give up, that we are out here
And Creator, I ask that you continue to allow us to help you bring your children back under your guidance and onto your path that we need to follow to be good human beings.
And for that , Creator, I say thank you for giving us that opportunity to help you.”
