Close, but the Acronym needs to be CHEATO. That covers more bases and is more accurate.

Corporate Huckster Escalating All Tensions Overseas

Chaotic Handling Erodes All Trade Opportunity

Constantly Hypes Emergencies, Amplifying Tariffs Opportunistically

Crashes Hope, Exploits All, Trump Overcompensates

Unfortunately, just naming the monster isn’t going to stop it from killing and eating us. That being said, you have (unfortunately) absolutely nailed the current Trump dynamic. I can’t remember the source of this one but, “some people just want to set the world on fire and watch it burn.” (Or words to that effect.). Trump is, at bottom, a pyromaniac. To him, destruction is not the means to an end, it is the end in itself.

Trump is as dangerous as it gets. He’s fast becoming a menace to all people across the planet. He isn’t fit to live in civil society. He is dangerous and delusional.

Beyond sad. When we pick up the carnage and bodies ( there will be bodies) one can only hope there will be a country shining on from beneath, and life will begin once more.

With sanity, with love, with empathy. With rules and laws that hold. And those in power…. Banished to their torture hotel camps, for good!

Perfectly imagined--and, as usual wonderfully expressed...

Yes! Chaos and destruction purely for its own sake...

Trump is psychologically twisted, morally misshapen--inescapably primitive to point that at least half of the country, that half which is still possessed of some scrap of reason and the expectation of civility, spends countless hours attempting to "understand" his words and actions. What we haven't yet completely grasped yet is that attempting in some logical way to predict or explain the "reasons" or "motives" he has for one act or another is a total waste of time (though it often makes for loud, predictable discussions on TV news shows).

Trump's mind is misshapen; he was born (or it was knocked out of him at an early age) without the common human component of civil behavior; he is like an out-and-out psychopath who hurts people for his own pleasure; an incomparable sadist who ultimately destroys every life form in his way. What's to figure out?

Shakespeare's got Trump right when he wrote Richard The Third:

"Deform’d, unfinish’d, sent before my time

Into this breathing world, scarce half made up,

And that so lamely and unfashionable

That dogs bark at me as I halt by them;

Why, I, in this weak piping time of peace,

Have no delight to pass away the time,

Unless to spy my shadow in the sun

And descant on mine own deformity.

And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover,

To entertain these fair well-spoken days,

I am determined to prove a villain

And hate the idle pleasures of these days."

Also, leave us not forget: Every time Trump crashes the market for one seemingly irrational fantasy or another, he and his vile spawn make millions buying stocks at a low price and selling them when--after Trump has backed away from his bullshit tariffs--they inevitably go up...

Has anyone, in the entire history of our country, ever been a better position to, and then subsequently succeed, at manipulating the stock market?

Sadly, whatever remains of the people whose job it is to investigate the ethical violations of public officials, should be outfitted with court jester outfits, rattles, bells and silly pants. With Trump and his crowd, there's no other remaining reason for them to exist...

I’ve believed for quite sometime that Trump is a sadist. A real sadist. He enjoys causing pain while he watches. It might even get him off sexually. Depending on how bad his sadism is & how long it’s gone on. He is one very sick puppy. Glad to see this talked about in frank, direct terms. Americans are not safe in trumps hands.

Hi Mike, I got so excited to respond to the sadism component of Trump that you so eloquently described that I forgot to tell you your descriptions of Trumps mental state were a pleasure to read. Your words sing off the page. There’s a number of you here on Substack whose writing sings to me. Loved this! I read it twice in fact. Once to myself and then out loud to my husband.

Thanks so much for sharing this.

The problem with him is that he can not only benefit from his false sense of omnipotence. He also benefits financially from market manipulation, which reinforces his insanity and gives his inner circle a reason to keep propping him up. The only thing that will stop him is when there are no longer financial incentives for his enablers.

9/1/28, DC, Earth: The wind blows orange dust relentlessly through seemingly abandoned halls where a dying echo of justice can be faintly heard. In a large chamber, pages of a bill once called beautiful flip back and forth in the hot gusts, some stuck together with the emissions of a man named Russell. A baby-faced rat stops, sits on its hind legs, observes the emptiness with glassy red eyes, and scuttles back to its VP office. In a gold-encrusted room, behind a desk mounded with fast-food boxes, a bloated creature sits, gently shedding the orange dust as it adjusts its position to relieve its swollen ankles. Across the oceans, sirens.
