I appreciate--more than I can really express--you presence here and now.

Its much more than comforting--it's like having life-saving medicine at the moment our democracy is being attacked with every intent to kill it. The Republicans in Congress are trained, performing dogs, scared children, or completely corrupt; and the verdict is out on the Supreme Court--but it will be clear within a matter of weeks if they can have any effect at all on the metastasizing Trump dictatorship.

I'd say this country has turned--virtually overnight--into a Latin American death-squad dictatorship, but I think we're just seeing the inevitable result of decades of deliberate and SELF-destructive cultural and political rot. Trump is not the cause of the failure of our Democracy--he is the main symptom...the ultimate manifestation of everything that was always wrong with America...

Thank you! This is a terrible but necessary thing for any good journalist to do -report the truth! But let's not forget to hold every congress member's feet to the fire. WHERE IS THE IMPEACHMENT FILING? That is the only thing that will end this daily horror created by our president...! (And I will ykeep repeating this everywhere I go, online or in person!

Thanks for the detailed accounting of the events of the last few days‼️

It’s well worth documenting for future reference, possibly legal action but also for historical detail in future publications. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I worry a little about readers, including me, who find this comforting. We don't need to be lulled by knowing others are on it. True, Closer to the Edge is therapeutic for us who are outraged by what we see and feel that we have limited to no power to do anything about it. But the brilliantly written pieces here should galvanize not merely comfort. I feel provoked to do something impactful.

Good. You should. No one should feel comfortable right now. Things are not okay. Take action. See you on June 14th!

Things are certainly not OK when the police —the very authority sworn to serve and protect— become the cause of death and pain. They give TACO the rationale he wants to justify sending in the National Guard and Marines as the civic authorities obviously cannot control the situation.

The police departments in the military and the National Guard are supposed to be protecting the American people

Unfortunately, over the years, they have been hyped up and brainwashed to think of the American people as the enemy that needs to be controlled and put down

The understanding that Americans have the RIGHT to peacefully protest, and organize has been lost in some of these people’s minds as a group think has taken over.

They have been infiltrated and compromising the military for years. There’s a reason why so many retired military participated in the January 6 insurrection and violent riot attacking our Capitol and the police crying out to hang the Vice President Mike Pence and the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi . Complete with resurrecting a gallow with the White House in the background.

Hoisting the most offensive foreign flag ever on our Capitol -

the TRUMP FLAG

where the United States flag has always flown as a symbol of our democracy and freedom .

This is an article that was in Mother Jones in March April 2010. Everything has been about white supremacy and racism and fascism.

Thank you for speaking the truth, and holding these cops accountable. Are they loyal to Trump? Are their superiors? Why are they shooting innocent people? This is not my California. Not my USA. We deserve answers and they need to be accountable for these acts of hatred and violence. So again, thank you.

To be fair: the woman who was shot in the head; there was someone bandaging her head and someone said an ambulance was on the way. Don't know if LAPD did either of those things, but she was being taken care of.

I thought LAPD was better at crowd control; they've certainly had enough experience.
