We're heading out in Richmond VA with a heat index of 109 and thunderstorms looming. Thank you for this, so motivating it made me tear up. Just what I needed!
White people in America are not used to making “Good Trouble”, but remember the Vietnam War protests… please WAKE UP and march today. I hope with all my heart that your country gets through this and can return to being the generous and kind people that I have known. From an old lady across the border🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
Wonderful and inspiring. I’m beginning a one person campaign. I’m committed to writing to the White House and the President a one word message: “Shame”. If they received a million emails per day, wouldn’t it be lovely?
I appreciated this article deeply—every sentence felt like a call to remember, to rise, to refuse silence. It didn’t dress history up in reverence; it delivered it raw, truthful, and demanding action. John Lewis embodied what most people are too afraid to be: unwavering in the face of fascism, fearless when fear was the only reasonable emotion. That kind of courage needs replicating. We don’t need more comfort. We need more spine. #BeLewis.
I love your writing. Maybe Lewis was decent, but his decency didn't last long. He always supported the illegal occupation of Gaza and the second Iraq war, which wasn't a war but a massacre of millions. And the evidence is clear that 9/11 was an inside job. He also supported the Libyan and Syrian massacres. A lotta blood on his hands. He was in the pocket of AIPAC and was, for the most part, silent on criminal justice in America. You won't find integrity anywhere in Congress or the Senate. You are still my favorite Substacker, though.
Thank you for your article on John Lewis. I was fortunate to have met Mr. Lewis at a book fair in Washington, D C. years ago. May he rest in peace.
Thank you!!

👍
Excellent article! Every word a call to resistance. I like the definition: Resistance is people waking up one day and deciding they just had enuf. Yes
Good day,
each and every word you wrote is so true.
Good trouble is proof, that people live, instead of merely exist.
The majority chose to exist only, hiding behind comfort and routine.
Pareto is right here also,20% live, the rest exists only.
The 20% need to unify.
Roughly 70 Mio.ppl...impressive!
Well said 😊
I am with you!
💯❤️ Well said. Now let's go.
If anyone sits on the right hand of any god, this good man does. Blessed be, John.
