April 5th’s five million was just the beginning. And the US military is full of Americans. Are they going to shoot their own? They did at Kent State. The blowback from that was massive. If a peaceful demonstration like those on April 5th is fired on, there will be twenty million in the streets the next day. We are Americans. But so are the members of the military…they are likely to act like the National Guard in Georgia in 2020, who stood with the demonstrators. We’ll see.

Mr. Lester, if you think Americans will refuse to shoot Americans; I must ask: Where do you live? They will. Make no mistake about it.

Mr. Dobbertin, the premise on which you base that opinion is of course quite valid; they certainly have in the past. But I think that neither you nor I can predict what will happen now. There is deep and widespread dissatisfaction with this government’s policies, as evidenced by the April 5th demonstrations. The individuals happening to be in the unit asked to fire on demonstrators, and the actions at that moment of the demonstrators themselves would also be factors influencing the outcome. I recently saw a photo of, I think it was the Georgia National Guard, in 2020, having lain down their shields, standing in their riot gear behind the demonstrators that they had been sent to disperse. So there is more than one precedent. We will see.

Americans shot their family members during the Civil War…how will this be any different? How many of us no longer have contact with friends or family members because they think tRump is great even though his lies are so obvious??? (All politicians lie, is what I usually hear). This is so f*cked up…😮‍💨

Totally agree with your argument. The Civil War has been referred to as the Brothers’ War. I also am estranged from multiple family members because of our not agreeing on the destructiveness of the rump.

We Have To have HUGE SHOWING on April 19th. Peaceful & coordinated. The next step per 2025 is to create violence & vandalism as An Excuse For Martial Law.. ANONYMOUS has a new message with ideas and guidelines. It's on tik tok for now .I shared it with the appropriate groups on fb. In a fb "timeout " thru April 9th at 8:? pm.. Watch and share ANONYMOUS. Gather for the 19th. " Kiss - keep it simple stupid " NO VIOLENCE!!

It is very likely that there will be violence, initiated by MAGA provocateurs, to provide excuses for what President Trump wants: an intimidating massacre. Because that is how terrorism works. We have to be super steadfast in our pacifism, our non-violence. Ghandi knew that.

It’s evil regardless, but Trump himself is not thinking these things up, nor reading legal docs or the constitution. He’s simply not smart enough. Articles like this may give the impression he alone is the problem - and it is MUCH bigger than that. It’s the whole regime and complicity of the Republican Party, judges, and tragically - will likely include the police and military if they perform the actions he is looking to take against us - the non billionaire American citizens who just want fairness, peace, and prosperity!!!

The VAST MAJORITY of Americans just don’t “get it!”

They think they can wait til the midterms and walk us all back towards democracy!

IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN LIKE THAT!

Know this!

Americans are in the RESISTANCE until we defeat this fascist takeover of our Republic!

We will continue to march, shout and rally against FASCISM!

We will face down armed U. S. Troops and armored U.S. tanks!

Here, in Chicago, we don’t play with dictators! We defeat them!

Go America!

At least in my mind, there are big questions around if the military will, or won’t, fire on Americans if ordered to do so.

First, there are those in our armed forces who live paycheck to paycheck. Add to that they have families & loved ones who depend on that paycheck to live. It’s a big ask to expect the rank & file to disobey orders. When it’s no secret that when orders are disobeyed, consequences follow. Potentially even arrest & jail on top of a dishonorable discharge.

Now, add to this group the career service men/women. It’s already been proven, at least to my satisfaction, that if those in this group disobey a direct order for any reason they can expect swift removal, and at the very least public humiliation by Trump. Not to mention they can kiss their hard earned pension goodbye.

Trump has been careful to make an example out of any pushback in any of our armed services across the board.

So my question is this, what’s the plan to protect these folks? Incentives are good, but unless it comes with a guarantee of some sort why would any service member stick their neck out?

I’m sorry if I sound negative above,

but this is an important point that clearly needs to be addressed. Is there anyone out there who has experience in this kind of thing? If so, please, hop on here and advise.

Stan's avatar

Very simple. When the order to fire comes, make sure they aim properly. (Not at the protesters.) To end this, the military leadership must have a plan and assets in place to act decisively at the right moment. The order to fire at protesters must never reach the troops in the streets.

What will actually happen? I have no idea. But at least it’s less than two weeks away. Won’t have to wait long.

Cmon guys! We’re going to the golf course. We’re gonna get him, tie him up and put him in the cabinet. We will lock it. We will pair up and take shifts gaurding it. We get a supply truck and put the whole cabinet in there and drive to the Gulf of México where we get a boat and take the cabinet out to international waters and we dump trump, cabinet and all over the edge. We don’t need to stay and watch it sink. It will.
