I love this metaphor! (I also am not typically a musical lover but this play is one of my favorites.)

I agree with your post. We have to hold our ground on the shutdown and let those who voted for Trump in 2024 feel the intense pain. Many will die. Sadly, that's probably the only thing that wake up the ones who make it through.

But will the Dems cave? I'm very afraid they will.

Now THIS is what we call a descriptive metaphor. Much more satisfying and accurate mental image.

The Democratic states must withhold federal funds. They will not see any state sharing during Tempertantrump term.

👍 poison ivy. Spreads easily. Tough to eradicate. Leaves a painful burning itch. Roundup kills everything. Including humans.

The perfect metaphor for late-stage American governance: a carnivorous plant in a flag pin, humming the anthem while it slurps up democracy. Every “clean continuing resolution” is another gallon of blood poured down its gullet, and every pearl-clutching senator insisting “we can’t just stop funding the government” is basically holding a straw.

We’ve mistaken compliance for stability. The fascist organism doesn’t need our consent anymore; it has direct deposit. This isn’t law and order, it’s hunger management for a regime that eats civil rights and calls it bipartisanship.

If we want the Republic to breathe again, we stop feeding the monster. Cut off its allowance. No more “emergency powers,” no more blank checks for authoritarianism in a business suit. Let it starve, then plant something human in the soil it stole.
