" Sanders’ former senior advisors didn’t just endorse him. They came on board. That doesn’t happen unless people who’ve seen real political fires recognize smoke

early. That wasn’t symbolism. That was recognition."

Sanders, AOC, Ryan, and?

Groundswell?

Thank you for bringing Kevin Ryan’s candidacy to our attention. He sounds like a highly qualified candidate and a badly needed breath of fresh air. We need more Kevin Ryans and Aftyn Behns.

I've lived in Illinois almost all my life and this would be so refreshing. Dick Durbin is retiring and it can't come soon enough. He's one of the traitors that voted with Republicans to reopen the government.

I’m in Illinois and I can’t agree with you more. I have been sending scathing emails to Durbin in Washington, in Illinois in Springfield. Any emails or ways of reaching out I can find —unhappy with some of his recent choices and votes, etc.. Get the old guard out and start with fresh, younger voices. That goes for Democrats as well as Republicans. I’m 70 so I’ve seen a lot in politics. Tami Duckworth has been doing pretty well, but I sent her notes as well.

He sounds a lot like Graham Platner running in Maine against Susan "concerned" Collins. Faving Janet Mills who is the current governor and very establishment.

We desperately need new blood

VERY interesting. I had been leaning toward Raja Krishnamoorthi, probably because he's been the most visible and seems to have an acceptable platform. However, the reason he's been visible is because he has spent a lot of money on campaign ads. We need more working-class candidates who aren't striving to be career politicians. I definitely agree with Kevin Ryan's stance that we need to limit the vast amounts of money that is used to buy elections.

I wonder which is the sole county of the 102 in Illinois that Ryan hasn't been to. It would be great if he can get some help from a grassroots following.

Wish I lived in Illinois so I could vote for him. Or wish he was in Ohio so I could vote for him. Ohio really needs someone to shake up the old white stale politicians and their complacent corruption!!

I have lots of relatives in the Chicagoland area, went to college there and worked on campaigns for a couple reform candidates back when Hizzonor Richard J. Daley was king. So I know whereof you speak.

We always got shellacked.

It's not as brutal now but still almost as pervasive. And downstate was just as bad, albeit in a more hayseed, galluses-snappin' kind of way.

Go get 'em Kevin!
