Dylan’s “Blowing in the Wind”. The original protest song, still got lots of legs. Nina Simone’s “Backlash Blues”. CCR “Fortunate Son” - so pointed! I’m wracking my brains here and it’s pretty muddy where I’m dredging - clearly showing my age. The songs we sang while me marched against Vietnam - drag out the old Pete Seeger, Peter Paul & Mary, Joan Baez. Maybe not totally on point but absolutely the songs of protest from back when we first fought the fight for freedom. Eagles “The Last Resort”. Lennon’s “Imagine”. I should go on Spotify and create the playlist - I’m in New Zealand so I can’t actually do anything with it but others would be able to share it …
In Spotify put “protest” into the search bar. It will bring up a huge list of protest song play-lists. You can personalise one of your own from there - or just go with that - I’m listening to the one that came up top when I did it as I cook diner (It’s night-time here in New Zealand) and it’s taking me back to the 60’s with a vengeance.
There’s heaps of pre-built lists available. Download the Spotify app to your phone. You don’t need to have a pay subscription - just means you’ll get annoying ads every 15 minutes or something. I put ‘protest’ into the search and the list went off the page.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's song "Ohio" was written and released in the immediate aftermath of the Kent State shootings on May 4, 1970, with the single released just weeks after…
Yes, great idea! I vividly remember big named bands antiwar protest songs from many bands of the 70's. They came forward with full throated protest songs against Vietnam & Kent State. There was monies raised by them for Farm Aid and recently for Fire Aid. What has happened to the bands today. Are they disengaged? They brought young people out to the streets to fight injustice. We need them now, too!

We definitely need playlists, I for one lack the knowledge of enough songs to make the right message.
It’s already there - I just found this on Spotify. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2TLoOmV53fBCyBRQXiXUur?si=RGqY63ECTxe7hAu72TuKPg&pi=a-O4fjg8BuTq2L

Do you have Spotify or YouTube?
Just checked. Yep, I have both. What should I do with them?
