Journalists without caffeine are like drunk tightrope walkers without a net—doomed, directionless, and seconds away from unceremonious splatter on the pavement of public discourse.
Dear Edgemeister- we are persons sitting in darkness- who is out there? In this case, your voice is heard by a senior on a fixed income in one of the 7 most expensive states in the country. Who is also a substacker and artist photographer. Triplex whammy. So mas cafe por favor aqui, y por todos, pero no dinero aqui.
I'm sure it's on here somewhere but I can't seem to find the name and background of the person (or persons?) writing this blog. Could you provide me with a link to that info?
Thanks for the link. While I can see the need to be anonymous, it raises questions about credibility. Aren't there many many many other journalists who aren't afraid to speak their minds and who say controversial, provocative things but who also aren't afraid to sign their names to what they write?
Let’s talk about fear—what it is and what it isn’t. Fear is letting threats and intimidation silence you. Fear is backing down because the cost of telling the truth is too high. That’s not us. We’re still here, still writing, still exposing the bullshit, no matter how much it pisses people off.
But let’s be clear: choosing anonymity isn’t about fear—it’s about survival. Some of our writers have had their vehicles vandalized, tires slashed and windows smashed. One of our writers once had a guy show up in their driveway with a knife. We’ve had to file restraining orders because certain people didn’t like what we wrote and decided to handle their disagreements through threats, violence, and intimidation.
So, no, we’re not afraid. If we were, we’d shut up and go home. Instead, we do what we do on our terms, without handing out invitations for unhinged fanatics to show up at our doorsteps. Anonymity isn’t about credibility—it’s about making sure we live long enough to keep telling the truth.
