All the rigging of the courts and SCOTUS over the years, gerrymandering, and underhanded stuff that was going on during the Bush administration and undermining Obama (letting McConnell get away with preventing Obama from seating a SCOTUS Justice was HUUUUGE), and really kicking into gear in the first Trump term, was never seemingly urgent with Dems. They should have been screaming about ALL of it from the rooftops on a daily basis! You can't 'go high' with unscrupulous criminals!
But I think Dems always assumed that eventually the GOP's Master Plan (the slow-moving coup they've been methodically implementing since Reagan) would peter out or fail, so they didn't want to rock the donor boat, or call Trump's attention to themselves. Many of them still don't. I seriously suspect Trump's got blackmail on every single person in Congress, that he can use to scare and pressure people into subservience, like the Mob Boss that he is. None of these nefarious deeds of the GOP have been hidden! It's all been out in the open for years now: state Election Boards taken over by Trump allies, ballot tabulators taken over by AI and systems companies allied with Trump (see the recent reports on Substack for details), Musk's satellites interfering in vote counts (remember him boasting that Trump won "because of me!"?), paying people at the polls to vote GOP, gerrymandering in more than half the states in the country requiring Dems to get more than 5 TIMES the number of votes as the GOP in order to actually win one seat, and Trump putting troops in the streets of blue states, itching to start fights on Election Day so he can shut everything down. Things are looking pretty grim for any of this to be resolved before or by one midterm election, even though I hope it will be a blowout for the Dems.
With the vote totals now needed to overcome the gerrymandering, they still may squeak through with only two or three votes over the GOP in Congress. That's only enough to slow things down (especially since there are a LOT of Dems who are in their 80's who could die or become unable to do their jobs at any time, lowering the Dem vote counts), not the supermajority needed to stop and reverse what's already been done. That's how bad the deck is stacked against us.
And that's why they are getting so arrogant and brazen, openly telling us what they're going to do next! They already think we can't stop them! They don't even need Trump at the helm anymore! The machine is already set up and running full blast, and will pick up without a stumble if Trump croaks or is 25-A'd. THERE'S A PLAN IN PLACE FOR ALL CONTINGENCIES.
