Which district is this so I can donate and help financially support them?!

We can't share who the specific Superintendent is. We wish we could, but we can't.

It’s too bad we can’t know who because some may say it isn’t real. How do we prove them wrong if we can’t say? It is a great letter, however.

Are all superintendents getting this same 10 day request?

Better yet, if you know that the administration of your local school district would be likely to share the sentiment in this letter, support the administration by electing proactive board members who are on the same page as the superintendent. And when they ask for additional funding for the district, vote in the affirmative.

I’m on a school board in a small rural district and was shocked to receive this letter….

So your school board got it too?

It’s true. Our state superintendent of schools received it. His response was similar.

Thank you!!! As a teacher, I have worked in schools where the super has kids' and teachers' backs and where they don't. Courage and a commitment to student and teacher interest is RARE.

As a career teacher working at all age levels and teaching in both urban and rural schools, this letter says EXACTLY what I want to hear! Stand up! Be heard! If anybody can take on this inhumane government, it’s teachers!

As a former ESE teacher, this is brilliant, this is truthful. This is who we should be! This needs to be out through the media so that all can see! I’ve gotten too old to know how to do that stuff but I’m sure somebody can! Thank you for giving me a chance to sleep tonight knowing there are good people out there.!

Did a superintendent actually write and share this? It's brilliant and voices what needs to be said - in public, in the press, in the media. The public needs to understand!

I have a level 3 nonverbal autistic stepson, a level 2 autistic grandson, a level 1 autistic grandson with a genius IQ. I also raised a low functioning adopted daughter with significant behavioral issues and mental health problems who had IEPs and finally completed her GED.

Every person has value. Some need help to succeed, to gain independence, or even just to have a better quality of life.

These resources are NOT giving preference - they are helping humans live better lives.

What a wonderful response. I wish everyone on the receiving end of this administration's blackmail threats would unequivocally shout "No!" The ugly humanity in the Trump administration is not all powerful, but they are emboldened by those who acquiesce to their bullying. If we don't fight back, they will eat away at all of us and our institutions until nothing is left.

THIS should go out as a blueprint to all state school superintendents. If all were to send this back, send to the media, and not sign the federal blackmail letter, it might make a difference.

You’re correct I did assume the superintendent was a male… but then it could be a woman.. I stand corrected. What is most important is that this person stood up and honored the children…

Please confirm whether or not this is an actual letter written by a public school superintendent to DOE. If it is, is the writer willing to put his/her name and district name to it, and possibly others would be willing to sign on and get it published EVERYWHERE!!! TY!

I hope this is real and not just something your writers invented. No shade to your writers - they're brilliant. But I still hope this is real - two of my children have IEPs for autism and ADHD; and my sister is a speech/language therapist for a school district.

I know we all want this to be real but is it? If it is, why not share the name of the Superintendent and school district? We need to be lauding him or her so maybe others will follow suit.

I’m sure that someone could have just responded to the moment and let the statement stand.

Yet, I suspect that the sentiment is shared by thousands of public school superintendents across the country. So I’m willing to bet that some superintendent actually sent this letter to the person responsible for dismantling the Department of Education.

Whoever this administrator is, they have the fortitude that our present regime lacks and will never have.
