I think there is a mechanism to fascism, not just the absence of activism usurped by apathy. That mechanism is a corporate partnership that conspires with the uber rich to cement policies that wrap up the working class in insurance premiums, low wages, medical debt, empty education, intimidating surveillance, and highly compromised state legislatures that cannibalize so much of our time that we have no ability, resources, or heart to fight back.
Joel, that sounds like a good explanation, but also a collective excuse and I understand it. Itβs a very tough fight. No doubt about it. Unfortunately, most Americans have little or no experience with a totalitarian government. Many years ago I visited a Central European country still under Communism with my friend who was an ex-pat refugee from that county who had gained American citizenship. The first thing we had to do was register with the local office of the National Police. It goes on from there. You can read everything available, but itβs not the same as personal experience.
If we can achieve millions joining the Resistence we will win. I hope you will consider that opportunity! πͺβ€οΈβπ₯π½π«ΆπΌπΊπΈπ
agree. and some of us will.. even though our futures are so uncertain, and we are broke.. and we have no (personal) support system. Because (for some of us) there is no point in being here- or going on, if we can't sleep at night- or look at ourselves in the mirror, it's just too important. Living isn't Living if you succumb. AKF..
I am too tired to participate but I'm doing it anyway - so many of us are. Thank you for this, as always. π

I will never surrender to the apathy.
This feels spot on. Thanks for the wake up.
Excellent! Thank you!
"The antidote is agency."
Yes. Thank you.
You illustrate what I really believe to be true, but in a much more coherent way than I'm able to express. Thank you!

Thank you for writing this. I keep sending snail mail complaints to state rep and senator, us rep and senators, governor, AG of my state.
Thank you so much for this one. Youβve vocalised the malaise perfectly
