And in Nashville, and Atlanta where the National Guard WAS called to be on hand for crowd control, they formed their lines, but dropped their shields in unison!!! What a message for Trump, Noem and Hegseth! The People ARE the power!
Wow! I hope it was on TV somewhere, maybe Rachel Maddow? I would LOVE to see it....I don't remember ever seeing anything like that back in the late 60s/early 70s.....
We had dangerous “counter protesters” in Sebastian, FL which escalated things. They wouldn’t leave or move. Had to remove myself or else risk doing something regretful. maggat leaches.
I’m so sorry. I’m glad you were there until the RWNJs showed up & spoiled things. It was scary at Charlottesville, VA on Saturday, August 12, 2017, too, at the “Unite the Right” Rally when the extreme white nationalist hate group The League of the South marched in and all hell broke loose. Actually, it was terrifying and physically violent the night before, but my friend and I were unaware of the tiki-torch Neo-Nazis march on UVA’s Rotunda on Friday the 11th when they attacked UVA students.
Thank goodness our Democrat Governor shut it down at noon on Saturday the 12th. We also didn’t hear about the death of Heather Hyers until on our way home. You take care, they truly are dangerous, so bless you for standing up to the fascists!
I’m the main caregiver for my mom with Alzheimer’s and I don’t get to as many protests as I would like to, but I’m definitely with every one of you!
The energy level was high here in Oregon. We basked in the sunshine of a beautiful spring morning and let the world know that we are mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore. Resist!
How was the crowd downtown? April 5th I was at the Clackamas County rally and then went to Tigard on 4/19. I’m thinking of going downtown for the next one.
I was in the deep south of Oregon (Josephine County) and we had a GREAT turnout 🎊. Great signs, great energy. We were on the Main Street and tons of cars and trucks drove by honking and thumbs up 🎉. All ages present, music, drumming. This has been a rather deep red county for quite a while, but people are getting angry about lots of things, and are mobilizing.
Wee Whidbey Island, Washington had hundreds turn out in the rain!
Beware the grey-hairs!
We cut our teeth on rallies & protests
We remember the 4 dead in Ohio - the Kent State College students who were protesting the expansion of the Vietnam War into Cambodia - fired on by the National Guard - May 4th, 1970
I had just turned 10. My parents were staunch GOP, Dad extreme right. I remember he thought they deserved it. Quite the churchgoer he was as well. I remember feeling ill...
And here we are given an opportunity - if we are bold enough to take it
I'm reminded of a story about a little girl who asks her grandfather how come there are so few men and boys in the village. He tells her that long ago a soldier with a gun took them away. How many went? she asked? 200. How could 1 soldier with 1 gun take away 200 men & boys? Because no one among us wanted to be the first to die, And so we all did.
Of course I'm not saying we should die; but I am compelled by the courage it takes to say, No!
Walking home I saw the Tesla Free Zone sign had been spray-painted over & a bumper sticker smashed rhere: Trump won - get over it. Even here on our island the maga right is holding out for a regime
Silly.... they are pushing for more women to have more babies - considering paying $5k per birth AT THE SAME TIME that they have decimated medicaid, head start, & all the rest to support those moms & children.
IDIOTS all
l think about my dad his 5 brothers enlisting in WWII - some not even "of age." He was the reason I served as a US Navy nurse.
We keep on keepin on
Standing strong with you that We the People will prevail over the people in power.
Hello. The ACLU is shouldering the legal end. American Civil Liberties Union= ACLU. The organizers are either 50501.org also Indivisible.org.. They are the protest organizers. They could use donations. You are supporting us just by asking. Thanks so much.
Thank you I will donate. I can't be in the US right now but I lived there in the 2000s and it felt like my second home. Now I don't recognise the values being espoused by it's powerful elite.
We appreciate posts that tell us you are with us. Letting us know that even though the wanna be king is evil you have not lost faith in who We The People are.
The whole Western world is with you, I suspect. All democracies. Any decent person wants to see Trump and his cronies gone and sanity restores to the US. But you also need somewhere new to go. Bernie has the answers.
Ciao, Martha! 😊 Substack has become the main channel for communicating resistance. Suggest subscribing here and to others when you find them. America can do it. They MUST do it... 🌈🇺🇸🇬🇧🙏
Had my video at the ready in case of any funny business, at a community fun day, kids included. I'll decline to give demographics, you'll understand why, and though not part of the protests as such, it was a risk for some to meet out in the open. About 100 to 150 people.
And in Nashville, and Atlanta where the National Guard WAS called to be on hand for crowd control, they formed their lines, but dropped their shields in unison!!! What a message for Trump, Noem and Hegseth! The People ARE the power!
This sent chills through me! Awesome!!
Good for them!!!
Wow! I hope it was on TV somewhere, maybe Rachel Maddow? I would LOVE to see it....I don't remember ever seeing anything like that back in the late 60s/early 70s.....
Thank you for sharing that! I hope someone got a video.
I am so pleased to hear that. That's the kind of way you need your national guard to act.
I wish people could see all this on tv!!!!

Wow, that sucks. It was bound to happen somewhere sooner or later.
Awesome! In both the literal and colloquial sense.
The energy level was high here in Oregon. We basked in the sunshine of a beautiful spring morning and let the world know that we are mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore. Resist!
I was there, and it was GREAT!!!
Which rally, John? I was in Tigard.
WOOPS! Downtown Portland, at Pioneer Square. But all part of the same continuum!
A couple hundred showed up in Albany, Oregon!
Way to go Albany! My best fishing buddy lives there and said it was a surprisingly good turnout, as well.
How was the crowd downtown? April 5th I was at the Clackamas County rally and then went to Tigard on 4/19. I’m thinking of going downtown for the next one.
Go you good Americans! Keep up the fight!

We've got nothing to lose by showing up & using our voices as they did.
I visited the memorial museum at Kent State and cried my eyes out. So moving ❣️
That was very good of you to take the time, Ann.
It wasn't that long ago.
Let's work together so we have fewer memorial museums.
Cross the aisle, the street, the campus, the neighborhood to FREE AMERICA
I remember hearing the news on the radio the following morning. I was 11.
I had just turned 10. My parents were staunch GOP, Dad extreme right. I remember he thought they deserved it. Quite the churchgoer he was as well. I remember feeling ill...

I don't want to die, but, like Nathan Hale, I regret that I have but one life to give for my country.
If not us, then who?
I recognize the odds.

We keep telling the stories so no one is forgotten & we can summon strength from their lives.
I was only 7, and it still feels like it was just yesterday.
In many it might be.
Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming, we're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, four dead in O h i o...
And some folks think it's just a song from "back then."
But 4 Dead in Ohio is a ballad - the dead did happen
I am in the UK but how do I financially and morally support the US uprising?

Fight the Power Every Day Every Hour.....
The march in NYC was amazing. So many kind folks (with their confused dogs) showing unity in the face of authoritarianism.
This is what Democracy looks like.
