Irene and I spent the day at the “hands off” protest in—of all places—Adrian, Michigan. Looked like about 500 folks showed up, and this is a town of barely 20,000 souls. A town in ruby-red Lenawee County. It was fun—so many absolutely wonderful people to talk to. My subtle protest sign even got me a short interview with 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮—probably a bad idea. Oh well, good trouble.

Cars driving by honking, waving—plenty of smiles! The crowd cheered. Of course, the occasional rusty pickup—with truck nuts—rolled coal and flipped us off. The crowd laughed.
Folks, this is absolutely GREAT NEWS that we are finally fighting back against the crushing stupidity of the GOP and the current administration. Now we have to DO EVEN MORE, to get MORE PEOPLE involved and create a HUMAN TSUNAMI to sweep these bastards out of office and out of power!!!

This is what hope looked like in Grand Rapids, Michigan during the Hands Off Our Democracy Day on April 5, 2025.
My children didn't want me to attend
- the memory of the riot that ensued after George Floyd was murdered still fresh in their minds
- Numerous articles about how to prepare for a protest, know your constitutional rights, write your emergency contacts on your arm, be unidentifiable in dark clothes, masks and hats.
- Have an escape plan, etc.
And their were the writers reminding us of past civil rights movements when people bravely, peacefully protested knowing they could be physically beaten or even die standing up for what they knew was right.
I told my family that this was a planned peaceful protest. That you can be brave even when you are scared. That I didn't need an escape plan or to write phone numbers on my arm. I wasn't planning to break windows or blow up cars. I was insistent that we needed to be on the right side of this movement! And what exactly did we encounter at this protest in downtown Grand Rapids?
Furious people full of hate for the new Führer tRump and his Republican Musk Rat regime - hell yes! But we were all smiling, greeting each other, shaking hands, lots of hugs, laughing at the trump and each other's creative posters.
There were families, neighbors, children playing, determined seniors, defiant veterans and so many different skin colors! Now my children are planning for next time!
It is estimated that five million people showed up at over a thousand worldwide anti-trump events and I haven't come across any news of violence.
I know it's not want he planned for - but I give thanks to the trump, for he has united us like we have never been before.
Hope to see you all at the next planned peaceful protest April 19, 2025 at noon all Fifty State Capitol (and many local events of course) with One Common Goal to extinguish El Führer DonOld tRump, Un-United States Dick Traitor and his entire Republican regime of Musk Rats. This is good news, some problems remain. How do we protect the "vote counting computers," that Trump has remarked on, that "Elon knows so well?" Certain states have allowed them to be compromised, their software taken and analyzed? If these stories are true, this will be attempted again. Consider the safety of the midterm elections.

Outlaw monopolies and oligopolies!!
Enforce the Sherman Anti-Trust Act of 1880! Yes! It was passed 145 years ago!
If it needs stronger language get rid of “loopholes” and enforce the law!
Ensure that Corporations pay their fair share of taxes!
Finally, RESTORE CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT AUTHORITY TO HOLD CORPORATIONS ACCOUNTABLE!

Little Ellensburg WA turned out hundreds of protestors of all ages, and we received so many friendly waves and honks as we walked from the college to a park near City Hall. Feeling more hopeful than I have since the Orange One took office, that we can show our legislators and judges that we ARE BEHIND THEM IF THEY STAND UP to the NAZI fear tactics Trump and his ilk are employing.
It is all the Republicans, not just 47! Please call them all out not just him. They could stop this, instead They are all supporting this and when he is gone they will continue.
