The Old Serpent Rises Again
New American Aristocracy and the Child Who Sold Her Body for Braces
There are moments when history doesn’t repeat or rhyme, it hisses.
It slithers up from the floorboards, wearing a new skin stretched taut over an ancient skeleton, whispering the same old lie: You work and I eat.
Last Thursday, the world got another glimpse of the serpent’s coils.
A New York Times report described a 17-year-old homeless girl working at McDonald’s, scraping change for braces, pulled into the orbit of powerful men who fancied themselves untouchable. She met them through a “sugar dating” website and she was funneled toward Florida’s privileged predators like livestock to market. Scum of the Earth Former representative (R-FL) Matt Gaetz, tax collector Joel Greenberg, and former Florida Legislature (R) Chris Dorworth, all guilty of abusing this girl or aiding in it.
They took drugs with her. They paid her for sex. They will likely never face real consequences.
Meanwhile, the documents from Epstein’s estate dropped like a rotten chandelier onto the marble floors of American corruption, 20,000 pieces of evidence revealing a world where billionaire parasites, politicians, academics, foreign dignitaries, and entertainers flocked to a convicted sex offender like moths to a flame made of blood money.
A world where wealth sterilizes the soul against accountability.
It would be easy to say this is just about individual monsters. But the monsters believe and act as if they are an aristocracy.
THE ARISTOCRATS’ DREAM IS THE PEOPLE’S NIGHTMARE
While billionaires throw opulent parties at Mar-a-lago, the state wages war on anyone it deems unworthy. Immigrants, both undocumented and documented, the unhoused corralled into “rehabilitation facilities” disguised as moral reformatories. Women’s rights. Transgender Americans, erased from their own identification documents by a Supreme Court that treats “sex at birth” as sacred scripture. The education of our youth.
It’s the same failed ideology every time: Some people are born to rule. Others are born to be ruled.
The serpent doesn’t justify cruelty because it is cruel. It justifies cruelty because it insists we are better off being stepped on for it’s own gain.
WHAT WERE FIGHTING FOR
The wealthy, the powerful, the sanctified few, they’re constructing their private world above us with zero consequences, zero accountability, zero shame.
Most Americans want a nation where the serpent is not handed a seat in the Senate, a boardroom, or the Supreme Court.
Every era has tried to build an American aristocracy. Every era has seen resistance rise to crush it.
We’re living in one of those eras now— closer to the edge than we care to admit, but still here, still fighting,
still refusing to bow our necks for the saddle.
Because the serpent only survives if we forget the People have the power.
Closer to the Edge survives because of readers who want this kind of fire — unfiltered, unbought, and unafraid.

BREAKING EPSTEIN FILES NEWS
Trump just told the GOP to vote for releasing the Epstein files. POTUS could’ve said, “I’ll release all the files.” He didn’t. WHY?
He’s waiting for Blondi to say the DOJ can’t because of the active DEM investigations HE ordered.
There's a difference between releasing the files and releasing ALL the files. Don't trust them further than you can throw them.
