Thanks for the documentation and restraint. Fighting hate with more hate just doesn't get us anywhere as a nation. Your courage will be remembered and is much appreciated. ICE, not so much. Have a blessed night and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

That moment when you realize you could have been duped by a pseudo counter-protestor, but instead, ICE confounded itself by admitting it had a pair of goons to provoke violence!

Sometimes, a cellphone is just that. Sometimes it's evidence of an insidious plot to make an amoral point.

Hmm. A federale telling a protestor that a phone needs to be returned. This implies that the fed believes that a protestor possesses the phone or knows where it is. On what basis?

Protesters believe the counter-protesters were off-duty ICE agents. Why would either of them have a federal phone?

Martha Ture's avatar

If I'm a protestor I want to file charges for assault and battery. With whom do I file, the city police or with the DA? The photo shows that the arresting person wore a sheriff's deputy uniform. Was this event not in city limits? If I'm the journalist or District Attorney I want to talk to the person who stated that the phone was federal property. Was that person an ICE agent, a deputy sheriff, a representative of a different federal agency or whom? Name rank and horsepower please. Where was the phone last seen?

just. go. figure. corruption never quits, even 'off-duty'...

Exactly

What? Fed phones don’t have the Find My feature?

They didn't have enough memory after installing the Fuck You app.

Well the other shoe dropped.

They were paid off duty ICE agents trying to start a violent fight.

I hope somebody sues their asses.

Hmm - sure hope the phone is found by the ‘right’ people - the ones who connect with Closer to the edge.

Because OF COURSE it was "federal property", cause it's ALWAYS them, the counter protesters are THEM, the violent ones are THEM, the corruption is THEM, the "pedophiles" are THEM, the "lazy" ones are THEM, the ones sitting on their asses "living off government assistance" are THEM, the ones rigging elections are THEM, etc etc etc, because every accusation is a confession, every, single, time!!! It has ALWAYS been PROJECTION, the thing these people are MOST afraid of, is the mirror, the only thing they have right, is that America truly IS filled to the brim with low lifes, and the low lifes, are THEM.

Thanks for the excellent coverage of the event. I am stunned but not surprised. It is a disturbing development.

It really smacks of subversion when the largest donors openly discuss plans to replace democracy with a CEO dictator, as the administration creates a military specifically designed to attack justice, disrupt domestic tranquility, undermine the general welfare, and remove liberty from the public, and then engage in undercover incitement of violence against peaceful protestors to remove their first amendment rights.

Well done to everyone who defused this situation and showed calm humanity..and hmm.. " federal property " well, well, well...

Excellently written! As soon as I saw that guy I thought he looked like a fed! Just the look. The build. I know so many and that's a very common look he has.

Thank you for bringing honesty, humanity and integrity to every story.

They will keep trying to escalate and we will keep doing the right thing, because we know, and respect, the difference.

Excellent article and terrific photos.

A great read! This is how we have to address these assholes who try to start fights when we are peacefully protesting!
