Absolute madness. There will be more deaths as a very active hurricane season in on. No, they are up to pick us off. But as I have said before..they can pry my freedoms from my cold dead hands. I'm old but I worry for the future. And for that I say continue to fight!✊️💪🏼💥

Absolutely disgusting. Every bit of it. From the head of the snake all the way down to the muck they slither in. If I’d been on the ground with that a-hole prancing around I’d have been hard to restrain. Little prick. And his soulless cosplaying cartoon character of a boss. Ugh

I guess when so many people in the administration, including DJT, are TV personalities, leaving home without your makeup, wardrobe, & hairstylist is a cardinal sin. Can’t let a gaffe like being less than camera ready ruin a good photo op disaster shoot. You’ve got your portfolio & your future book deal to think about.

The bottom of the barrel brings up pretty scummy stuff, like pot-bellied WTF-do-I-do-now man and lip-filler bad makeup dog killer woman. If there's anyone I really, really want to head for hell besides orange face man, it's dog-killer woman. Slowly and painfully. I hope her lips pop.

Just another trump appointed incompetent fool who thinks he knows what he is doing. This is the same jerk that was unaware that the United States had a hurricane season. Good Gods, help us all.

Ok. So how exactly do we respond? Chantel devastated western parts of the Triangle where I live on Sunday night. And then a follow-up storm two nights later took out communities in the northern/western reaches of Chantel. The water system et al in Mebane is one notable victim of the latter. Signal chats have been created and blown up overnight as individuals and organizations try to cover some things. Gov Stein should be credited with doing what he can given very limited resources.

$2 billion of $60 billion needed has been sent to help Helene NC impacted communities. The vast majority of the damage was in NC.

I simply pose these observations.

David Richardson is an ugly ignorant asshole. He should be fired immediately. This reminds me of Hurricane Katrina, when President Bush finally got to the disaster site and told his FEMA administrator, you’re doing a great job, Brownie. He wasn’t. He was doing a horrible job.

Brownie did a better job than David Richardson. Pathetic!

That’s not saying a whole lot. They both were total incompetents with no prior experience for the job. Brownie was nicer, though. Richardson is an arrogant, pompous jerk. He said he doesn’t slow down at yield signs. Hopefully someone will T-bone his uncaring, worthless ass to hell. And ICE Barbie Kristi Noem will be in the car with him.

Gross ineptitude. Utter lack of a soul. No idea of human suffering. We are left with people like this from all agencies that the Orange Freak has “re-engineered “ for maximum efficiency. Integrity and morality are circling the bowl and we are, as yet, unable to put and end to this. Thanks for this. We need to know.

This is a debacle of incompetence and cruelty. Where was the governor in all of this?

Who can hold them accountable?

I wonder if Heritage is patting Trump on the back for the way in which this has been mismanaged. They wanted everything dismantled and this is the cconsequences.

What has happened here is not okay.

There needs to be an enormous outcry and demand for an independant investigation.

Those responsible for what looks like criminal negligence or dereliction of duty are responsible and need to be held to account, answer questions and face the consequences of their actions.

Emergency services usuall have the aim of rapid response, taking timely action to preserve life and property.

What have they done or could do days down the track? Looking for the deceased is about it and clean up.

I feel for the families who have lost loved ones who are missing.

Shame on the Texas Governor, Trump, Noem, Mr Polka Dot Poser wearing inappropriate attire.

I am sure there are others accountable for this tragedy.

If Trump wanted to divest responsibility to the states, this should have been done in a planned way.

Time should have been given to state risk assessments and response planning, procedure documentation and training State Emergency Serivices.

Then formal handover can occur.

This should have occurred. Why did it not happen?

The people have a right to know!

Texas is suffering and its people should be asking questions, particularly about what their government is doing to mitigate climate change. How is their government building community resilience to meet the demands of catastrophic weather events? What are their plans for rescue? Do they have a plan for recovery?

Unfortunately the terrible flood in Texas is not an isolated event. The world is experiencing more frequent severe and sometimes catastrophic storms, major heatwaves, wildfires and other weather events as a result of global warming caused by rising levels of greenhouse gases blanketing the atmosphere and disrupting planetary climate systems. Scientists have been warning us for decades. USA did have policies aimed at helping to keep global warming below tipping points. Those policies have now been scrapped by the Trump administration, it seems. Even FEMA and NOAA are victims of cost-cutting and capacities are limited now.

Governments have a responsibility to ensure that populations are better prepared and that resilience is built into communities. Providing for public safety and securing critical infrastructure are basic functions of government regardless of party politics. When disaster strikes, the responsibility is to provide assistance as soon as possible. Expertise, funding, first responders, evacuations — all of these must be planned as part of the response effort. Afterwards comes recovery which can be a long process and also must be planned.

Resilience, Response, Recovery. A late appearance for photo opportunities just doesn’t cut it on any account.

Trump and Co. should be listed as one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. That one would be named Indifference. That is what is being shown to Americans, an indifference to anything that doesn't generate a profit. The whole Trump administration is hollowing out America with ICE raids, tariffs, and legislation designed to purge the U.S. of people with disabilities, the elderly, and anyone dependent on Medicaid to stay alive. That was part of the fascist playbook in 1930's Germany. Those people were called a drag on society, or a burden on the economy. Now, in the 21st century, it's back again, but this time in the U.S.

So far, I don’t see any private companies stepping up to replace FEMA.
