Thank you! I have been outraged by this and found little coverage on mainstream media. I find myself weeping over this treatment of a man who is crying out for mercy for the poor of our land, while those wearing giant gold crosses on the air and in media ops are living lavishly courtesy of our governments evil tax policies. 47 and the GOP administration are vile.

Were these the same Capital police who were beaten by trump’s crazies. Who directed them to do this?

"We should be flooding the Rotunda every damn Monday until they run out of plastic cuffs." Yes, exactly. If thousands of Hungarians can march over a Budapest bridge in protest every Tuesday, why not a weekly Monday Rotunda protest?

Thanks for mentioning this. I didn't realize that Rev. Barber had been doing Moral Mondays for quite some time.

THANK YOU!!! This is a moral moment for us all!! Christians were praying, but I see they are not the Christians of fascist regimes. They know that there is no way for them to stay in power if we call out their immoral deeds and all people of all faiths and moral beliefs join hands. We all need to be there!! We need to join Rev Barber now!!

I am shocked and horrified that Reverend Barber was treated so disrespectfully! I feel like I am living back in the 60's when this insanity went on! The hypocrisy, corruption, and cruelty has to stop! We cannot be silent! This needs to go out to everyone.

I am from NC. Rev. Barber’s church is in my hometown. Rev. Barber would hold Moral Monday protests in the NC State Legislative Building. Thom Tillis, Speaker of the NC General Assembly at the time, and Phil Berger, Senate Majority Leader, didn’t like the Moral Monday protests. Not because they were violent or destructive but because they were visible and called attention to the Republican legislators’ dirty tricks and cruel policies. They shut down Moral Monday’s and had Rev. Barber banned from the Legislative Building. Rev. Barber is used to living with Project 2025. We’ve been living with it for years in NC.

I could not EVER live in a state that allowed that to happen. So....do the "good people" in NC just look the other way and be SILENT???

"Maybe next time Rev. Barber can stage a prayer circle sponsored by Lockheed Martin — then he might actually get a permit."

Gestapo hates being filmed doing such hateful skullduggery against a moral leader WHO FEARS THEM NOT.

I would like your permission to share, one a day, to all of my friends across the country, your posts of the last ten days. They are brilliantly written and couldn't be said better. (surprise me and show that you can make even more biting and heartbreaking posts ! ) Let me know if I may have permission to do so. Thank you for all you are doing.

Thank you this. I've met Rev. Barber and follow his work. We are fortunate to have his voice of moral clarity at this time.

It is not subtle that they herded the press out, shut the doors the same week they cuffed a sitting judge and made sure the cameras were there too see her cuffed and put into a black unmarked vehicle and taken away.

Let's support Rev. Barber by showing up in force to protect democracy and all who are marginalized. And to voice our rejection of this brutal regime.

This post made me cry not just because it was wrong and sad but mostly because HOW DO YOU FIGHT IT. Demonstrations don’t help, postings don’t help. The Supreme Court who is suppose to uphold the laws are on the side of this behavior. The only good thing is I am old and right now praying to die because I don’t want to live in this type of society.

I get your discouragement - I have had many dark days recently. But remember they (MAGA) want you to believe that there is nothing to do! Rev. Barber would say the complete opposite. When 3.5 prevent of a population stands up non-violently they have overturned autocracy (see Erica Chenoweth's research.) I have heard Rev. Barber quote MLK "If you can't fly, then run; if you can't run, then walk; if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward". Find what is yours to do - none of us can change this alone but together we have a chance. We need you!

He did not die in vain, Gloria. He was a hero who helped save many lives. This is a new enemy and it's home grown. Call and email your senators and representatives to make your thoughts known. That's something we seniors can do. We still matter!

I wish I could say I was surprised but this is so on brand. Remember the reverend that asked for mercy in church and Trump supporters said she was a false prophet and the devil? Remember when Elon said empathy is the downfall of western civilization? They meant it. I've never been religious but I know the Bible better than them. I don't think they've ever read the new testament. Jesus was a "radical leftist loon" - even if you dropped him in modern times he'd be considered so. These people would have him kidnapped and disappeared, no doubt. I've never wished so hard that God and hell were real. I'd love to be at the rapture just to see the looks on their faces when they get left behind.
