We are writing to urge you to immediately begin formal expulsion proceedings against Senator Justin Eichorn in response to his recent arrest on suspicion of soliciting a minor for prostitution. While the legal process must run its course, the nature of these allegations — combined with the public trust required of an elected official — demands swift and decisive action from this body.
Resignation is not enough. The onus is not on Senator Eichorn to determine whether he should remain in office — it is on you, the Minnesota Senate, to uphold the integrity of the institution and protect the public’s faith in its leadership. By waiting for Eichorn to decide his own fate, you risk enabling further damage to your chamber’s reputation and signaling to voters that political convenience outweighs accountability.
The allegations against Senator Eichorn are deeply troubling, and while he is entitled to a fair trial, this is not just a matter of criminal guilt or innocence. Public service is a privilege, and individuals facing felony charges related to the exploitation of minors should not continue to serve in a position of public trust. Starting expulsion proceedings would not presume guilt — it would affirm the Senate’s commitment to accountability and ensure that this matter is addressed with the seriousness it deserves.
Let those who wish to defend Senator Eichorn’s actions do so publicly. Let them explain why they believe an official accused of soliciting a minor should retain the honor of representing Minnesota’s citizens. And then bring it to a vote.
Delaying this process sends a dangerous message — that some individuals are above accountability simply because they refuse to step aside. The people of Minnesota deserve better.
We strongly encourage you to take swift action and initiate expulsion proceedings without delay.

Done. Justin Eichorn resigned today from a jail cell. MN GOP has called for his resignation and this evening for his expulsion
I support this, but it's the wrong reason for him to be expelled. Anyone supporting a bill to criminalize criticism via psychiatric arrest should be removed from any office.
