At work, I sit across from a very pampered, formerly rich but now downwardly mobile Venezualan American. Ofc she's a Trumper. I've been called into supervisor's office more than twice because she is unable to justify or even explain her support for Trump (there is no acceptable justification) so she runs to the boss to get me in trouble "She's talking about Venezuelans and Salvadorans in cages again!"
I take the "correction" with a wink from my boss. I then go back to her and ask why she needs the boss to fight her battles for her? Sometimes I grind harder and say, you'd have me fired for speaking the truth? Im definitely Closer to the Edge.
This is exactly what I have been thinking, and wanting to hear more of! We are living in a time when MAGA believes it's their sacred first Amendment right to say and hold bigoted and cruel opinions. That being called out on those positions is more wrong than holding them. (Being labeled a racist is somehow more insulting than approving and doing racism?!) Social cohesion is not worth the price of letting evils easily spread. Love the mold analogy! Sharing!
I haven't talked to an old friend, the only Trump supporter I know, since January. I decided values mean something and values mean letting go of even an old friendship when those values no longer align. No more pretending to not notice. No more making nice. No more listening to the madness or believing something was going to change. No more abiding his wife saying well I sure hope you don’t let politics get in the way of your friendship. Politics? Yeah, no. Moving on.
It's very serendipitous that you should post this, and I should see it.
This month, I am resigning a job with a multi-billion dollar corporation. I will have a better position working for a private party who is transferring from the UK.
I may also accept private clients. Not Trump lovers.
The best time to do this was 1/7, the next best time to do this is right now.
Bravo!!!

Kudos to Kristin Wolter for standing up. Kudos to Closer to the Edge for making it known.

I just left a Yelp review for Kristin and her shop. I would encourage others to show her some love.
